Is It Time To Call An Emergency Plumbing Contractor? Here's What You Need To Know

As a homeowner, it is very important to make sure that you are well aware of when it is time for you to call an emergency plumber to your home. If you are not sure when that might be, you will want to take a few minutes to check out the following information.

The Hot Water Tank Is Leaking

This is an extremely dangerous situation to be dealing with and it is certainly not something that you will want to try to tackle on your own, especially if you do not have a lot of experience with this type of repair. The temperature of the hot water in that tank is enough to send you to the hospital with severe burns that could require intense treatment. Even though it might just seem like a little leak, that leak could suddenly get a lot worse or the section where the leak is could completely break, causing scalding hot water to pour out everywhere. Therefore, you will need to get in touch with an emergency plumbing contractor as soon as you can.

Pipes Are Starting To Freeze During The Winter

If your pipes are starting to show signs of freezing during the winter, it is time to call for an emergency plumber. This way, he or she will be able to thoroughly thaw the pipes, wrap them with insulation, or apply a heat tape that will ensure that they will not freeze again. It is important to make sure that this is being taken care of as soon as possible. If your pipes were to completely freeze, you risk them breaking open and flooding your home or even just the basement. That can be an incredibly messy situation and then you will not be able to use any water in your home until you pay to have the broken pipes properly replaced by a professional.

It is vital to make sure that you are getting in touch with the highest quality plumbing contractor in your area so you are able to count on the work that is done to last a long time. This way, you will not have to worry about having to call a plumber back out due to faulty work. If you need help finding the best plumber in your area, you will want to consult with friends and family who have had to call one for repairs in their own home.

A New Kind of Piping Makes DIY Plumbing Easier

My homes have always had either copper or PVC plumbing pipes. But when my plumbing system needed an overhaul last spring, I wanted a piping system for my home that I could work on myself when needed. There were a lot of good reasons to choose PEX piping, but my favorite thing about the PEX piping is that it's easy to work with, even if you're a beginner like me. Now I can make small repairs myself instead of calling the plumber every time I have a minor leak or other small problem. I still call the plumber for the big stuff, but it's more affordable now that I can take care of small issues myself. I started this blog to help others learn how they, too, can do DIY plumbing repairs at home.
