Plumbing Upgrades To Consider For Your Home

Blog

If you are currently making major renovations to your property, it can be easy to overlook the plumbing system when you are choosing upgrades to make. However, your home's plumbing may greatly benefit from your investment in a handful of upgrades to it.

A New Water Heater

A water heater is an appliance that is essential but one that you may rarely think about. When you are looking to undertake a major renovation project, upgrading to a tankless water heater may allow you to eliminate instances of running out of hot water while also reducing the energy required to keep your home supplied with hot water. If a tankless water heater is not suitable for your home, there are any other high-efficiency and capacity water heaters that could help you to enjoy similar benefits.

Leak Sensors

Leaking is a problem that can quickly cause your home to suffer extensive damages throughout it. However, it can often be extremely difficult for you to notice that this problem is occurring until the house has already suffered these problems. While routine inspections can help you to identify these problems, leak detection sensors can be among the more effective solutions for detecting this hazard as soon as possible. These devices are placed in areas that are the most likely to experience significant leaving, and they will sound an alarm if large amounts of moisture are detected.

Pipe Insulation

Frozen pipes are a wintertime problem that can leave your plumbing system critically damaged. This is due to the fact that water will greatly increase in size as it freezes. In particular, it is important to make sure that any pipes that are near the exterior of your home or under the house should be insulated as these pipes will likely face the coldest temperatures. Having the insulation around the pipes supplemented will help to prevent this problem from arising, and it is an upgrade that can be completed for a fairly low cost and in a short amount of time.

High-Efficiency Toilets

Depending on the number of individuals that live in your home, the toilets may be among the most used appliances in the house. This can cause them to be one of the leading sources of water usage. You can help to greatly reduce the amount of water that is needed to flush the toilets by investing in high-efficiency units. These units will be as effective at removing waste while only requiring a fraction of the water that a standard toilet would use.

A New Kind of Piping Makes DIY Plumbing Easier

My homes have always had either copper or PVC plumbing pipes. But when my plumbing system needed an overhaul last spring, I wanted a piping system for my home that I could work on myself when needed. There were a lot of good reasons to choose PEX piping, but my favorite thing about the PEX piping is that it's easy to work with, even if you're a beginner like me. Now I can make small repairs myself instead of calling the plumber every time I have a minor leak or other small problem. I still call the plumber for the big stuff, but it's more affordable now that I can take care of small issues myself. I started this blog to help others learn how they, too, can do DIY plumbing repairs at home.
