Water Pressure Low In Your Home? 3 Things That Can Cause This

Blog

If you have noticed that your water pressure is low, this can be caused by many things, three of which are listed below. You can then hire a plumbing company such as A Davinroy Plumbing & Mechanical to come to your home to repair what is wrong so you can get your water pressure back to normal.

Plumbing Pipes Leaking

One main cause of low water pressure is having a leak somewhere in your plumbing pipes. This is because leaks cause the water supply that comes into your home to be much lower. Having not as much water leads to low water pressure.

Look under sinks in your kitchen and bathroom to see if you notice any kind of water or wetness. If you do not, the leak is likely in plumbing pipes that are not visible to you. For example, the pipes may be installed in the walls. It is important that you get this leak taken care of quickly, as it could become much worse over time. You may even have burst water pipes, which results in a very large mess and expensive repairs. Water leaking can also cause mold and mildew to grow.

Problems with Water Valve

Another thing that can cause low water pressure is having problems with the plumber water valve. The valve is an important part of your plumbing system as this is what regulates the amount of water that comes into your home. If there is a problem with the water valve, the amount of water that flows into your home is decreased. The water valve may be partially closed. This can result in less water coming into your home. This is easy to repair as the water company will only have to open the valve.

A plumber will have to contact the water company in your town to check the water valve to see if it needs to be replaced. If so, the water company will handle this for you.

Old Plumbing Pipes

If you live in an older home and your home still has the original plumbing that was installed when it was built this very well may be your problem. For example, the pipes may be rusty inside of them. If this is the case the rust has likely built up, and this will cause the pipes to narrow causing less water to be able to flow through. All the plumbing pipes could also be corroded, which will not only cause water pressure problems but also lead to leaks and other plumbing problems.

Because you have old plumbing, you should consider hiring a plumber to replace all of your plumbing for you.

Talk with a plumber; they can give you much more information about this.

A New Kind of Piping Makes DIY Plumbing Easier

My homes have always had either copper or PVC plumbing pipes. But when my plumbing system needed an overhaul last spring, I wanted a piping system for my home that I could work on myself when needed. There were a lot of good reasons to choose PEX piping, but my favorite thing about the PEX piping is that it's easy to work with, even if you're a beginner like me. Now I can make small repairs myself instead of calling the plumber every time I have a minor leak or other small problem. I still call the plumber for the big stuff, but it's more affordable now that I can take care of small issues myself. I started this blog to help others learn how they, too, can do DIY plumbing repairs at home.
